Comic Deal

Today I signed a contract do a four-issue comic series for one of the HOTTEST science fiction properties out there.

(disclaimer: it's not HALO; just let me nip that rumor in the bud right now)

When I was first approached to do this, I was floored. You want me to do this? Me?!

I then dreamt up the one thing every fan of said MAJOR SF property wanted to find out about...knowing full well it had to be all spec-ed out and covered already.

They said "sure, knock yourself out."

...I'm still floored I get to do this.

As usual, I'm contractually restricted to not reveal what this SF property is...yet. But stay tuned.

Humm.. comics? Have you even written stories for comics before?
Or, is this kinda out of your usual territory as a writer?

Comics, eh? Well, I didn't know you could draw. I know I sure as hell can't.

I'm guessing you don't actually mean doing the artwork, but working more on the storyline and look, per say, of the images.

Very cool. Not many chances come around like this. Congrats.

Interesting.

Well, there's not much to be said, is there? Guess we'll just have to wait until we get to find out what it's for.

Hope it's fun! If it's something you like, maybe you'll look into doing it again for something else, eh?

That's awesome! I'm looking forward to it, whatever it is.

Now, let's see... Major SF property? Like, Star Wars and Star Trek? ;)

Rather than Star Wars or Star Trek, I'd love for him to be writing within the Half-Life universe, especially in light of the events at the end of Half-Life 2.

Angel - That's actually a great idea! Seeing as how online-comics using the game engine of HL2 have been so successful, I always assumed at some point that someone would get the idea to put them on print. Doubt that's what this is though..

S_b – I don’t draw, at least not well enough for this. Comics usually have a writer, artist, editor, inker, and letterer—all performing very specialized tasks to pull an issue together.

Angel – Yes, Half Life is very cool. But I’d have to wrestle Valves’s own designer/writer Mark Laidlaw to get that gig : )

I figured as much eric. And to save you and me some trouble, you can just say 'SB'. The other way looks like quite a strange facial expression that I cannot quite get used to.
