UNSCDF HALO Fan Fiction Contest
The fine folk at the UNSCDF website have put together a HALO-fan fiction writing contest. I’ll be judging the finalists, signing copies of HALO: GHOSTS OF ONYX, and sending them along to the winners.

Note: the UNSCDF crew will be sending me the final stories after they have done the preliminary judging. They will have removed all names from these submissions to eliminate any bias. So please don’t send me email asking if I got your story (I won't know). And please don’t send me any stories directly--those go to the UNSCF people.

First of all, I must say that I'm a fan of your work. I've read the Halo series of course as well as "Signal to Noise" and "A Signal Shattered". Great stuff.
Second, I'm glad that they gave you another shot at the next novel(s). I've also heard that Bungie is bringing in another writer(s) to that project like they did with Dietz in "Halo: The Flood". I don't want to be too forward, but is there any truth you can give to that?
I've made a long fanfic based on Halo, but sadly it isn't finished. I wish I could wrap it up, but I would be rushing it. I guess I wish I could crank out stuff as fast as you do.

I hope that this blog comment finds you well. What a cool idea, this fanfiction contest for an autographed copy of your most recent work!
I am giving serious thought to entering this contest. I have a lot on my plate right now, but, if at all possible, I will enter this contest. The real question is - how to write good fan fiction while maintaining the plausibility that I deem so critically necessary for any work of non-Bungie/non-Nylund Halo-ness.
It will be an interesting challenge! Thank you for your continued participation within the fan community, and may the best story win!

I happen to be a HALO fan from China, and I would really like to partake of the event. But anyway, I understand; I have suffered countless times buying books from the Amazon, $7 per item for a regular arrival (ETA 40 days).
So this contest doesn't apply to Canadians either?
Darn. I've got a few Halo fanfictions under my belt.
I would love to open this up to international participation, but the people at UNSCDF want me to sign the books _and_ ship them directly to the winners. Now, despite what you may have read about writers and the huge advances they get...I don’t make that kind of money.
When I say “I make a decent living as a writer” that means “I can cover all the bills.” There’s not a lot leftover. So please understand that I have to limit the postage I can cover.

Eric, i think that it wouldn't be fair to send them to austrailians, south americans, and basically to anyone who isn't part of the North American continent and is attached to the states.
But is the price for postage really that different for Canada and Mexico? I mean, it costs more for Hawaii and Alaska, i'm sure.

Well Eric, I made up my mind. I'm going to finish up my fanfic so I can enter in this contest. I only have 2 chapters to go and I alreday have a good picture of what I want them to be. I'm excited and I hope the UNSCDF and Mr. Nylund approve!
Indeed, it's too bad that TOR or anyone else with proper funding can't help Eric out with international shipment but I know I wouldn't ask that of the writer himself though. That's just selfish.
I should say thanks to both you and the UNSCDF for putting on this stunt. Before the internet, this whole thing probably wouldn't be possible either.

I've got a fic under my belt, We Are Brothers. I'm almost finished with it.
Thank you for writing the Halo series. My brothers have Halo 1 and 2 and I love playing them. One of my friends let me borrow the first Halo book and I finished it the next day. I just finished the fourth book in the series and I love it. Thank you for writing them! Are there more coming?

I realize that bungee is limiting what you can say about the halo series. But i just wanted to know if you could reveal that there even would be another novel added to this series. Or is GHOST OF ONYX going to be the last book. If it is not the last (witch i assume it wont be seeing as I've read all of the halo books and it would end in a rather odd place.) Than are you allowed to give me a ruff estimate of when the next book is going to be published? thanks!

one more thing I wanted to know if you were going to do a book on what the master chief was doing while the spartan 2's met up with the spartan 3's.( I know the second and third halo games cover that but I understand what you are trying to say a lot better in book form.
