Anarchy in the USA

I’m not a huge fan of anarchy or civil disobedience. Nor am I a fan of strong government. I believe that most politicians place their careers before the people they represent.

What's an average citizen supposed to do? VOTE!

Don’t give me that lame excuse that there’s no one good to vote for. There’s never anyone good to vote for! Just vote.

I’m fortunate because I live in Washington where there is a huge vote-by-mail initiative. I’ve just popped my ballot in the mailbox, and I’m going to top it off by watching V FOR VENDETTA (the penultimate voting day movie).

V for Vendetta, eh? Seems like a fitting movie...?

I'm a dirtbag, I must admit. I didn't vote. I haven't voted since I turned 18 and was eligible to vote.

Why? Well, I'm not a political kind of guy. I don't follow politics because I know it's pandemonium. I know that if I vote, I could never vote based on a sound decision, because I probably don't know everything that's going on--the character of the candidate I'm voting for, if they're honest, making hollow promises, etc.

Yeah, I'm a dirtbag.

I grew up in the Republican Redneck Riviera where (for local elections anyway) choosing anything other than red really just did not matter a whit, so I've sort of become jaded to the whole voting scene. When I do vote, I tend to write in random people.

That movie looked retarded in previews(no offense).

Ah. To vote. A big responsibility. The depressing part of it is, now, you're more voting for the "lesser of two evils" rather than the good choice.

I like voting. Especially when it's either that or die, if those people from mTV ever find me. *adjusts his tinfoil hat*

I would be a lot more into voting if I wasn't afraid of the genpop. Some gent (I use that term oh so lightly) tried to run my wife off the road shortly after we arrived back in the Northwest, screaming obcenities out his window and blaming her for the 2004 election in a not so pleasant tone. Why? Florida plates.

I tend to vote on what I like more in the voters pamphlet, than down a party line. I'm thinking that unless someone fields a candidate I like in 2008, I'm voting for the MC.

Isn't V more of a blowing-stuff-up day movie?

I see voting as license to complain. If you didn’t vote, don’t complain about the actions of your elected officials. (I usually phrase it as “hold your nose and vote”.) And if you’re tired of the results of our electoral system, consider supporting organizations that support electoral reform that could provide some incentive for a two-party system to do a little more than simply be not-the-other-party.

Hey! Guess what! I just got Ghosts of Onyx! It was at my Barnes and Noble! I love it so far.

I won't say that everyone should vote. I will say that everyone should know what is being voted on though. Not voting on purpose (with the idea of not wanting to add a vote one way or another) is also a vote. Still, i'm an absentee-ballot voter, so my problem is getting it into the mail on time.

And i dare not get into the political discussion.

Incidentally, I'm 17, so I can't vote.

But I must agree with you on V. Best movie in a few years, in my opinion.

The novel version (yes, a novel based off a movie based off a graphic novel) is pretty good, too, if you're into that kind of thing. (Duh.)

Good honest comments everyone.

My fascination with V is not so much blowing things up, but the “People should not fear their government; the government should be afraid of its people” theme which our system sadly seems to lack. Watching it makes me feel better when I vote. And it’s a dammed fine adaptation of Moore’s work, btw.

GHOSTS reviews and speculation are starting to trickle in on the various boards. I have to make a new post about that...as soon as I’m done reviewing the finalists from the UNSCDF fan fic contest – all extraordinarily good entries!

My parents loved Washington's mail in balloting, made the whole voting thing much easier as it allowed them to research the candidates before finally writing down who they choose. I have to wait a few more months to vote so unfortunately I have to wait till 2008 to actually be able to use my right. Can't wait though!

Over here, we HAVE to vote, and there's pretty big fines if you don't. Not that I can, yet. :D

I'm really hoping Borders in Australia will miraculously get a few copies of GoO from the US, just so I'm not jumping around the Internet trying to avoid spoilers in the next few months. And, I really want to read the darn thing.

So if "V for Vendetta" is the penultimate voting day movie, what's the ultimate voting day movie?
