GHOSTS OF ONYX

GHOSTS is official released today in North America (almost like someone planned GHOSTS to come out on Halloween...).

I want to thank everyone at Bungie and TOR for making this happen. Special thanks go out to Brian Jarrard, Frank O’Connor, Robert McLees, Joseph Staten, and Eric Raab.

Extra special thanks to all the fans and readers who really made this possible. Without your continued enthusiasm I would never have had the chance to contribute to the HALO universe—you all have my deepest gratitude.

Sorry to delete your comment Danny, but I have to ask everyone to not post spoilers for the novel here. Let's give people a chance to read the book first. Thanks, Eric.

Bah...my local book store told me they had it in the back but wouldn't be selling it "till it's release on the 1st". Kinda disappointed, but I'll be back tomorrow to get my copy, lol.

I got it a few days ago - Saturday the 28th, I believe, as Barnes and Noble had it out early. I got it that morning and finished it that night - absolutely phenomenal piece of writing.

Now I already can't wait for the next novels as well as Halo 3.

Keep up the good work, Eric.

Finished mine today. I can't wait to see what it leads to. From what i have seen from the past though the games and novels don't tie in too much to each other. The novels more fill in holes that games leaves conveniently open. I'll be interested to see if the stuff that happens in the novel plays into Halo 3 or if it is incorporated into the Halo based comic everyone has forgotten about.

Good read though Eric. Always top notch sci-fi.

I've read the OXM prologue (i believe they had the prologue) and spoke with a few people on it, and there seem to be quite a few errors. Errors as in typo's, mispellings, etc.

Not that I'm complaining. I'm just wondering whether this is because it was rushed out the door or what? I understand that writing that much will have mistakes, and I understand even editors will miss a few, but there are quite a few.

In other words, who's to blame so we can get our pitchforks together and go witch hunting?

I'm amazed at your ability to top yourself consistently...Ghosts was one of those rare books that kept me constantly wishing it was 800-900 pages long, so it wouldn't have to end. Can't wait for Halo 3, or anything else related!
Cheers

Thanks for overwhelmingly positive comments and emails everyone.

Tim –I noticed that price as well. Heck of a deal for a trade paperback. Must be a HALO fan working at Amazon!

Pinecone –word combos are random for security reasons. I have yet to see on that made sense : )

SB—tracking down what’s up with the typos.

I'm a little over half-way through right now. It's definitely the best of the novels so far(tho they're all good). I can't freakin put it down! This is the first time I've let myself spend time on the computer since I bought the book!

Out of curiosity, you often use the term "hard vacuum," so I'm wondering what a "soft vacuum" would be..... haha

Bought it from Borders like 3 dayss ago (Today is November 05)
And I finished the book that night, and simply couldn't put the book down. Awesomely twisted, a little surprised a certain Spartan wasn't in the book much.

Thanks again everyone.

Kilroy – “hard vacuum” refers to a vacuum that approximates that of interstellar space. Science geek term.

Best of the Four.

I got it the afternoon of the 31st...and finished it by that night.

Fastest I have ever read a book.

I find it amusing a book that says it was Published in November, was read in October.

Lets hope Bungie asks you to put the topping on the series.

Eric,

Great story! I just finished it last night. The only problem with the book is the fact that I want the next one to come out really soon. You've really done a great job with this book. Keep up all the great work!

Well as usual(from the halo series) I was entrhalled from the first page and never looked back... five hours later and six dr. peppers I am in awe and despair, but I relished every last detail. Thanks so much for your amazing book. Eric, you know exactly how to make the honor of it all feel so real. And Omg who cares about spelling errors, admire the writing not the individual letters that make it up.

Stellar work, sir.

Literally. ;)

I especially loved the men who were both old and good.... or should that be "good and old"? lol.

Whether an Admiral or a Chief, the old fellas with their dialogue and emotions were definitely some my favorite parts of the experience.

Thank you again.

this is an awesome book, ending is great when kurt, well not going to say it, but great book, waiting for a sequel... but is that a story in halo 2 and 3 cause they have great characters and it would be a pleasure to see them in the game, but there will be master cheif but a breif appearance would make it that so much better, well if you read it!;) don't sign it out buy it! they bring the team aspect, cause you only see master cheifs point of view but shows how spartans work together, again great book, keep up the work!

I must say I was impressed by the "Ghost of Onyx." I have to emit though that I wish we could of heard a little more of John. And there were many unanswered questions, involving characters not mentioned. But prehaps these questions will be answered in Halo 3. One can only hope. I will have to read it again to make sure I didn't miss anything.Anywho congrats. And nice job describing the space battles. :)

hi i might sound kind of like an idiot by saying this, but could you describe the characters' hair a bit more. I'm the kind of guy that likes to picture the book as a movie while reading it so i kinda have to know what color and length people's hair are. You were descriptive for some but then others you either didn' say anything about them or i just missed it. Throughout the entire book i pictured both Lucy and Holly as blondes, Linda as a redhead, O with her weird hair that i dont really like, but Kelly i still dont know. Ive been picturing it brown sometimes and dyed blue others since her hair was dyed when she was six, but after a couple years of haircuts and the shaving it off for the augmentation should have gotten rid of that. Unless it did something wierd and made it permantly blue like how fred's have the silver streaks. I'll just continue with her as a brunette until you say otherwise

Very nice, I am happy with this book. My only constructive criticism was lack of detail. I think jsut a few more details here and there would haev made things even more amazing. i felt that certain things happened very abruptly ( see pages 360 and 361) But the little touches like the end of chapters 1 and 9 were amazing. THank you for those. and PLEASE!! make another one soon ;).
Your books are better.....
