On The Spot!

I was recently on Gamespot’s live show On The Spot talking about the new mass-market release of Ghosts of Onyx, Halo 3, Gears of War, Galactica-Cylon Wars, and my day job.

To see it, go to the On The Spot site and steam or download the 04/05/07 show. My segment segments starts at 26:50. (It should also be on iTunes, but it might take a week or two to get up there).

Thanks to the entire On the Spot crew. They’re a cool bunch of guys.

It's actually up on iTunes already. Looking forward to what you have to say about your BSG comic—hopefully a release date isn't too much to ask for… :)

Cool stuff. What was all that about John Carpenter?

As long as the MC doesn't end up looking like the Kull Warriors from Stargate SG-1, I'll be happy. The description of him as a kid made me think David Letterman. That would actually be pretty funny.

That also makes me wonder: If your books do get made into movies, will you do like Stephen King and try to get bit parts in them?

EMF – the host of the show had called the book earlier “Ghosts of Mars” which was a John Carpenter movie-- hence the reference.

Nikoda -- yeah, sure! Tarantino, King, Nylund – all play bit parts in their movies. I truly appreciate the optimism of my career trajectory. :)

Well Mr. Nylund you are a great rider so I don't see why your rocketing career can't be as good as King's.

Well, he doesn't look as creepy as he writes (I'm sure that didn't hurt Mr. King) but he does fit the nerdling/alpha geek part of things, so... With those powers combined, there might be a salable product.

Or, maybe, just Captain Planet.

Not sure if you're still taking errors in Ghosts (after all this time :P) but I _just_ got it a few weeks ago and found some that I guess survived the reprint.

- Huragok is still said to be the Forerunner name for the Engineer
- The Alpha Company Spartan IIIs walk past Engineers in operation PROMETHEUS 20 or so years before John officially found them.
- All the Spartan IIIs seemingly know of and have fought Elites before they're even hypothesised by Dr. Halsey.
- The In Amber Clad is described as a destroyer
- The same fifteen Covenant ships of Regret's fleet have apprently been alive for 2 weeks without being destroyed (between the time [October 20] that Regret's ship leaves and the time [November 3] the Blue team Spartan IIs capture a ship and go to Onyx)
- If Dr Halsey was alive (and in the military) in 2492 to see a nuking of a rebel colony, she'd be around 80 years old in 2552.

Wah.

Thanks Nikoda, EMF, Grif.

Pinecone. Noted...although many of the "errors" you're pointing out are, in fact, correct as is :)

I thought so :P

I'm not sure why, but my account deleted itself yesterday. I made another one, and it did it again.

Man, I haven't been here in forever.

doesn't look like I've missed too much.....

That was a good interview. The camera angle was a little more flattering than that one right after GHOSTS came out....
