Rainforest Writer’s Retreat

Syne, Kai, and I headed out to the Olympic Peninsula and spent a wonderful four-day weekend at the Rainforest Writers Retreat at Lake Quinault. We have a lakeside cabin, with all the comforts of home. The event was put on by the fine folks at Fairwood Press.

We had a blast, did some hiking (although much of this was mitigated by the constant rainfall – hey, it’s a rainforest after all), saw lots of old friends and made some new ones, too.

I hope it’s running next year; we’d definitely like to go again.

Even with child wrangling, the long drive, and other distractions, I managed to double my normal daily word count and drafted to the midpoint of Mortal Coils (which puts me about a week a head of schedule!). I feel pretty good about that.
