A Great Comic Con 2007
My first Comic Con was an amazing experience! I want to thank all the fans who came to the panel and the signings. I'm grateful to have met you all.
I only wish it could have gone longer. I had so many other Halo-related stories to tell; I could have talked all day.
So many great things happened during the convention. First and foremost was the fantastic reception from the Halo fans at the panel. There is nothing like having a thousand people cheer when you get introduced to them. It is gratifying to know that I have connected with you through the novels.
Another extraordinary thing that happened was while I was wandering around taking pictures, a throng of people pushed down the showroom aisle and I got caught up in their wake. Camera in hand, a huge security guard planted himself in front of me and told me to get out of the way. I stood there like an idiot not knowing what was going on. The guard noticed my camera, and then asked me if I wanted my picture taken. I didn't know what he was talking about until he stepped aside, revealing Ray Bradbury! (for those of you who don't know, Bradbury is one of the most famous science fiction writers alive). So I had the great honor to have my picture taken with one of my heroes.
I talked to many interesting people--readers, writers, artists, retailers, publishers, editors, little kids, Princess Leia, Cortana!—and got to catch up with a bunch of old friends.
I can’t wait to do it again next year.
