Details on HALO WARS LCE

I wanted to mention a few details about the HALO WARS Limited Collector’s Edition.

The Graphic novel “HALO: GENESIS” is based on characters created by the fabulous Ensemble designer and lead writer, Graeme Devine. Written by me. Art by the talented Phil Noto.

HALO: GENESIS reveals more details on the context and motivations in the early years in the Human-Covenant war—with a character that plays as big a role in saving humanity as the Master Chief. You’ll see the events and battles that lead up to the start of the game. If you’re at all curious how HALO WARS fits in HALO history, or are just a HALO story enthusiast in general, you’ll dig it.

Other stuff: The graphic novel is the size of a DVD case, hard cover, 48 color pages, and landscape oriented.

I also wanted to comment about the patch. It’s a lot cooler than it looks in the photos online. It’s not a decal or lame embroidered patch. This thing is PVC, cool as heck, and doubles as an effective glass-sticking Shuriken, or coaster!

Don’t ask me about the maps, release date, pricing, or cards. I either have no information or do not have permission to comment. Thanks.

I can't wait to get my hands on Genesis!

But I do have a question about the story. Is the main character in the comic book completely new to the Halo universe, or is it someone we've heard about before?

All best wishes.

This probably also falls into the category of "can't/won't comment", but just in case: Are there any plans to release Genesis outside of the Xbox 360 release of Halo Wars, for us three PC-using fans of Halo?

Coaster. That's actually a pretty good idea. I might use mine as such.

Re: Genesis outside Xbox

Or for those of us who just want to read it, and could do just as well without the game at all?

The one thing i would like, is a book, on the events after Halo 3.
It was never really said what the mysterious planet was at the end of Halo 3, we assume its Onyx, but what I believe most people would like to know, is what happens next.

Anything that you've written pertaining to Halo, I'm interested in reading. :D Don't even have to think about it for a second, it's instant. The answer is instantly "Yes. Give it to me. Now." lol.

Is it wrong that I look forward to Halo Wars more for the cutscenes than I do the game itself? =P

Unsc trooper – thanks. I wish I could provide more details on the characters and story. For the moment, I’ve said all I can. Hopefully as we get closer to the release date, more can be revealed.

Andrew t— I _can_ comment. I don’t know. Right now the only plans I’ve heard for publishing Genesis will be in the LCE.

Dangerusdave—it _is_ cool.

Rebel runner—see above. For now, it’s only in the LCE.

Angel—thanks. Don’t forget (ahem) some upcoming non-HALO fiction of mine about to be published : )

I really want to read this but will likely not unless there's a version published outside the Halo Wars CE. I don't go for the super expensive versions of games most times and this one is about $10 too expensive. I would definitely pay $10 or so for Genesis by itself, however.

It's a shame Microsoft killed Ensemble and I don't want to reward them and their practices of over bundling special editions of games with stuff that I have no desire to pay for (i.e. the coaster and the Halo 3 multiplayer maps).

Anyway, I know you can't comment on this stuff, but if you haven't already, perhaps you could put a word in to someone that there are some people out here that would like Genesis by itself.

I'm on to you sir, you're trying to drop all these shiny trinkets in front of me to forget that promised copy of Mortal Coils....

It's not going to work. :P

Ryan—I completely understand and I’ll pass along your request for a stand alone GENESIS piece. Re: the Ensemble situation. I feel for those guys. There are many people there I count among my friends. It is a truly regrettable situation. But as you guessed, as a MS employee I cannot comment more (as much as I would like to).

Only one speed—I’ll be starting a contest after Thanksgiving to give a way a few advanced reading copies of Mortal Coils...so standby. : )
