Free Comic Book Day Pics
A few pics from last week’s Free Comic Book Day event at Olympic Cards and Comics.
Brandon Jerwa (left), Me (center), and Eric Trautmann (right) planning world domination using their free online comic WIDE AWAKE! (The guy in the foreground has a blue spider brain control device and is doing Brandon’s evil bidding).
Me getting ready to man the tables. Note the huge awesomeness in the background which is only a tiny fraction Olympic C and C (one of the best and biggest comic stores I’ve ever been in).
Another shot of the store—full to the rafters with pure awesomeness.
And then there’s this.... I just never seem to get out of that store without something following me home. This spoke to my inner Buck Rogers.
Thanks to Eric T. and Gabi for hosting. Super thanks to Syne (pictured), for taking these pictures and for being wife extraordinaire.
Back to editing All that Lives Must Die. 90 chapters + prologue.

Thank you Blogger for adding all the extra white space to this post. Your interface is the BEST!
White space issue fixed. Who's your tech goddess, huh?
The manuscript looks smaller than Mortal Coils, but that's probably because there's no iPod for scale, but *Whoooooaaaaaaa!!!!* That things huge, must be pracitally impossible to revise that thing like five times to get it right, can't wait for it to come out, and 90 chapters, HOLY COW that's alot,
Congrats for you :^)
Did I forget the L in my last name of my other comment?
That store looks amazing! Definitely have to put that on the list of places we need to be going soon.
At the bottom side of the ALL THAT LIVES MUST DIE manuscript, it looks like a bread stick, a very thin bread stick.
Nikoda--It's a great place. Lot of comics and tons of geek gears!
Dakota--it looks shorter than the previosu pic of the Mortal Coils manuscrpit becease it's printed in Time New Roman font. When I give it to my next set of readers I print it out in Courier font...which adds a good 30% to the length. In is longer than the Mortal Coils book by about 30,000 words. :)
The "bread stick" is a post it note curled around.
Oohhhhhhhhh... So that's what it waz
Our pleasure, sir. Great to see you (and Syne and Kai, as well).

So wow that store looks awesome. Looks like you guys had a great time.
And I know what you mean about the Times New Roman. Sucks when you print it in Courier New and use so much more ink. But isn't that tax deductible for writers? And paper too, right?
How long did it take to print out that manuscript?
Wow, I kind of feel like there are way to many celebrities writing on this particular post. I'm going to go with "ZAWESOME!" and leave it at that.
No more having fun mister! Get back to writing!
E.T.—thanks again. We have to get out there soon. BBQ when it stops raining?
Dangerusdave—Yep, it’s a tax deduction alright. Still, the big thing is the time it takes to print it all out.
Which brings me to Dakota’s question...
I printed this pile of pages a section at a time for Syne to read over the last few months. When I get ready to print out the edited version for my next set of readers I use this application from Kinko’s that lets you upload your file directly to their printers. Just click a button and you can pick it up in an hour or so. Or, if your reader is across the country, you can have it printed at the Kinko’s closest to them for pick up or send it to their doorstep via Fed Ex. It saves a ton of time and energy! Especially when you’re talking about a 1000 page manuscript!
DX—yeah yeah. No more fun for me. I’m in edit mode for the next six weeks.
A slight observation about Mortal Coils. Seems to me like reading Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code(though I really never read it...just the first page.) The reason is because you have a lot of historical references there but I don't know if those are genuine or something you made up. My guess is Live/Die might have the same appeal. And look at that pile of manuscript! I wish I could produce something like that in three months. The longest I've made is only 10 chapters.
Arthur –
RE the historical references within Mortal Coils. See my website's FAQ, the very first question.
RE the pile of manuscript. That took about a year...so it’s not _that_ spectacular a feat. :)
That's a great looking stack of paper, there... I just finished Mortal Coils and can't wait to see what happens next!
I see Amazon.ca might finally have a few copies of Dry Water in stock, so I'll have to get that while I wait. Still searching for A Game of Universe and Pawn's Dream, but I haven't given up hope yet!
Keep 'em Coming!
